The mall under my office building has had a Tesla on display for a few months now, but until yesterday I didn't know you could actually sit in it and play around with everything like at an auto show. Decided to go down and get a little handsy during lunch today.

Kinja'd!!!

It's a P85 (no D sadly, and no I didn't think I would ever write that) in motherfucking RED. Overall I like the interior but the seats feel a little cheapo, and while the lack of a continuous center console really opens up the space, the flimsy seats make it feel like something is missing rather giving the whole experience an airy feeling of luxury.

Obviously the screens are the star of the show here, and they are indeed pretty cool, though I don't know if I'd want to have a touchscreen replace ALL the buttons in my daily driver (actually, I do know, I would not want that because I'm half Luddite). Poking around the menus was good fun for a few minutes though, until an older Indian gentleman got in the passengers seat and kept messing with my seat warmer and giggling.

I don't know how long they've been letting random plebes inside of the car, but everything seems to have held up to the abuse endured by auto show models. Nothing was broken, the motorized door handles all still worked and there were only TWO mystery stains inside. That's pretty impressive durability! Beautiful car, fascinating engineering, and now mall rated. Elon's coming for the world, folks.

Recaro's are now an option.

Key word is option! They need to do something about these standard seats. They legit feel like something out of a concept, not a mass production car.

Yes, I've test driven both the P85+ and the P85D.

No buying pressure or any of the normal dealer BS, just a super laid back and informative experience with a representative who is more interested in the technology than making a commission... And they do generally encourage you to put the hammer down :)

If you want better seats, you need to check out the D. Which has an option of better seats.
